August 8-12, 2016 Inspection Operation

For this period, OMB Agents conducted routine inspection in the cities of Quezon, Mandaluyong, Makati, Manila and in the province of Cavite, where illegal compact discs were reportedly being openly sold in the public.

During operation in the above-mentioned areas, 30 business establishments/stalls were inspected which led to the seizure of around 393,819 pieces pirated CDs/DVDs of different format and titles, 40 boxes  blank CDs/DVDs plastic casings, amounting to an estimated value of Php 12.37-Million.

Under Republic Act No. 9239 (Optical Media Act of 2003) any person or establishment found guilty of engaging in the sale, rental or distribution of unauthorized copies of CDs/DVDs, may be penalized with imprisonment of ninety (90) days or  made to pay a fine of fifty thousand pesos (PhP50,000.00).
