Provincial Inspection Operations

On February 05-06, 2017, Agents conducted routine inspections in various areas of San Pablo, Laguna and Lucena City, where illegal compacts discs were reportedly being openly sold to the public.

A total of thirty business stalls were inspected which led to the seizure of around 69,600 or more pieces pirated CDs/DVDs of different format and titles, as well as 28 DVD players, 1 TV. 5 DVD writers, 3 CPUs, 5 external hard drives, 3 internal hard drives, 2 flash drives, 2 micro SD cards, 1 PS3, 1 digital video recorder, 1 sack game catalogues, and 44 blanks CDs, all amounting an estimated value of PhP24.53-Million.

Local Government Units are advised not to renew the business permits of retailers who mix unauthorized copies of compact discs in their legitimate merchandize. Local law enforcement offices are also requested to report the presence of pirated CDs in their respective jurisdictions, so joint operations may be implemented with the Optical Media Board.
