OMB receives Firearms Donation from Globe Telecom

The Optical Media Board received today, June 29, 2020, firearms donation worth Php1.2M from Globe Telecom. Globe Telecom has been OMB’s partner in fighting piracy since 2018.

OMB is considered a law enforcement agency mandated to exercise enforcement powers pursuant to Republic Act 9239 and its agents are allowed by law to carry firearms both for crowd control measures and self-defense. Currently, the agency has an inadequacy in materials for enforcement such as tactical weapons and crowd control equipment, and the donation from Globe Telecom is significant in the achievement of OMB’s mission in fighting piracy.

OMB Chair and CEO Atty. Anselmo B. Adriano assures the public that OMB agents are well trained in handling these equipment, and that agents are strictly directed to exercise maximum tolerance should there be disorder during enforcement operations.#
