 PRESS RELEASE: Chinese National Arrested by OMB
On January 13, 2021, agents of the Optical Media Board conducted an enforcement operation against RGF Merchandising in Baclaran Shopping Mall. Upon inspection, the establishment was found engaged in the sale of storage devices such as SD Cards and flash drives and a certain Mr. Shiqing Tin, a Chinese national who was in charge of the store failed to present an OMB license.
Two sacks of the said storage devices were confiscated and Mr. Ting was apprehended by OMB agents.
Engaging in business activities such as distribution and sale of storage devices like SD Cards and flashdrives without the appropriate and valid license from OMB are violations under Republic Act No. 9239 otherwise known as the Optical Media Act of 2003.
The owner of RGF Merchandising is facing administrative and criminal charges from the Optical Media Board for violations of R.A. No. 9239. If found guilty, the people responsible for this act will face maximum imprisonment of up to six (6) years and a fine of up to One Million Five Hundred Thousand Pesos (Php1,500,000.00) per violation. #
