 PRESS RELEASE: OMB Confiscates Karaoke with CDs and Smart TVs in Caloocan City
January 12, 2021, Caloocan City – agents of the Optical Media Board, armed with a Mission Order signed by OMB Chair and CEO Atty. Christian D. Natividad conducted an inspection operation against a certain “Edmon Cadiong” from Sta. Quiteria, Caloocan City. Cadiong was allegedly engaged in the sale of smart TVs and home karaoke devices with CDs and songbooks.
Upon verification that Cadiong was operating without a valid OMB license, OMB took the 10 units of Techwoo smart TV and 2 boxes of Platinum home karaoke with CDs and songbooks to preventive custody.
Engaging in business activities such as distribution and sale of optical media discs and storage devices like smart TVs without the appropriate and valid license from OMB are violations under Republic Act No. 9239 otherwise known as the Optical Media Act of 2003. #
