On February 3, 2021, agents of the Optical Media Board conducted an inspection operation in Antipolo City resulting to the confiscation of storage devices with an estimated total amount of Php 4,193,700.00.
J&A Korean Surplus, an establishment in Antipolo City was found engaged in the sale of second-hand laptops and other storage devices without an OMB license. Taken into preventive custody were 163 units of laptops, 10 units of CPU, 93 pieces of internal HDDs, 140 pieces of SSDs, and 6 units of tablets.
Engaging in business activities such as distribution and sale of storage devices without the appropriate license from OMB are violations under Republic Act No. 9239 otherwise known as the Optical Media Act of 2003. #
